Matthew 27:28-31 And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.
Immediately after the scourging, they would have placed that robe back on Jesus, covering His brutalized flesh. As they hammered a crown of thorns on His head, and placed the false scepter in His hand, they probably would have ripped the robe off and placed it back on. They bowed before Him, continuing their cruel tongue wagging ridicule of Him.
This treatment of Jesus continues still today and it is often at the hands of those who call themselves Christians out of convenience. There are those who place the royal robes on Jesus when they are around their Christian friends and then rip the robes off of Jesus when they are around their non-Christian friends. There is a problem with this … it’s deception … self-deception that leads to a fearful end.

For Him!
