Calvary Chapel Birmingham is affiliated with the Calvary Chapel stream of churches which were started by Pastor Chuck Smith out of the Jesus movement of the 70's. Calvary Chapel set themselves apart for being devoted to verse by verse teaching of the Bible, discipleship, and reaching the world with the love of Christ. There are Calvary Chapels all over the world now, and each has it's own flavor, yet we all agree on core distinctives such as the centrality of Jesus Christ, the supremacy of love, allowing God to build the church rather than man, being empowered by the Holy Spirit, and our absolute dependance on grace.

Calvary Chapel Birmingham itself is a warm, loving, and vibrant church dedicated to the teaching of the Bible verse by verse and chapter by chapter. Our services are deep studies of the Bible. We feel it is important that we hold one another accountable and mature in Christ through Bible study and discipleship. Our fellowship consists of young adults, young professionals, small families, large families, homeschool families, over 40's and past 70's. Yep, we're all over the place! We don't all dress up for church, but some do. We love to sing hymns to the Lord, as well as play more contemporary songs that are scripturally sound and edifying to the body. We share meals together and hang out after service just because it's fun. We are mission and outreach minded and love to serve our community. We hold to what the Bible says. If it's in there, we do it. If it's not in there, we don't. We would love to welcome you and your family into our family.
