Matthew 26:30-31 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
I know some Christians who get freaked out every few years by end times predictions. I also know some Christians who get freaked out by the tribulations of every day life. Here’s the deal, guys … Life is filled with differences in elevation. Sometimes we are at peaks and sometimes we are at valleys. Our Shepherd leads us to both places.
Psalm 23 reminds us that whether we are in green pastures, by cool streams or in the valley of the shadow of death, we can be of good courage because our Shepherd has led us there and He has overcome the world. We might feel like the hills are the better places to be and sometimes we might feel like we’ve been left all by our lonesome in the valley, but our Shepherd is with us in both places. Jesus takes us to the Temple, He takes us to the garden and He takes us to the cross. So, what can we do when we find ourselves in an uncomfortable, frightening or just downright frustrating situation? Worship God.
The Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His children. What does that mean? Whenever you feel alone, frightened or scared, sing to God. Praise Him. He is with you and you will be surprised to find that when you draw near to God, He draws near to you.
God loves you, more than you can understand, imagine or comprehend. He stretched out His arms to save you and He continues to stretch out His arms to wrap them around you. Abide in the embrace of God. You are safe and secure in His arms.
