Acts 4:33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.
The power with which the Apostles gave testimony to the resurrection of Christ was by the grace of God yielding the Christ-like attitude and Christ like impact of this early church. Agreement in the church is a powerful thing but it is also a tenuous thing and so agreement between believers requires mutual dependence on grace. First, we have to recognize our own dependence on the grace of God, acknowledging that dependance, and recognizing that self sufficiency and self reliance will be met by God with grace enough to humble our pride. We also have to recognize that our brothers and sisters in Christ are dependent on the grace of God. God is good and the grace He gives to His children is abundant. Unity and agreement based in His abundant grace is powerful enough to proclaim good tidings of glad news, even in the promise of persecution.
James 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
Those who think they are strong enough to be Christians will find themselves deflated enough to follow Jesus. That is the grace of God, because an inflated Christian will share a deflated gospel, but a deflated Christian will abound in the grace of the gospel. If we are to be in agreement with God, we must be in agreement with Him in our need for His continued grace in our lives. It is by grace that we encounter and walk with the Lord and it is His grace that we need every day to continue to walk with Him.
