Matthew 26:18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.””’
Notice how Jesus says this … not as a man who is dreading what’s to come, but as a man who is set on a destination.
Luke 9:51 Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,
I’ve heard people say, “Jesus had a job to do” but that doesn’t really give us the right picture. You see, it wasn’t a job … it was a joy.
Jude 24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you fault- less Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
Jesus didn’t go to the cross because you were good enough or you had worked hard enough. He didn’t go to the cross because you wear the right clothes or attend the trendy new church. Jesus went to the cross because He loves you (period). Jesus was driven. He was driven by love and it was His joy to go to the cross to free us from the penalty of sin which we could not pay. He is a warrior, and He bears the scars to prove it. The agony he was about to undergo, was nothing compared to the joy of saving us. The nails didn’t hold Jesus to that cross. God’s love for you did.
God loves people. Let that be the foundation of every new day and the fuel behind every move you make. Share it with your family, share it with your friends and shout it from the rooftops. You are beloved of God. What else could possibly matter?
Romans 5:7–8 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God loves you.
What problem or pain could possibly overshadow that? What fear could cause you to forget it? God loves you.
